General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems Supports Successful US Army Solid Rocket Motor Demonstration

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GDOTS), a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) announced the successful static testing of its 4.75-inch rocket motor prototypes for the Direct Support Fires Technology (DSFT) program. In support of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Aviation & Missile Center’s (DEVCOM AvMC) rapid prototyping initiative, GDOTS also built and delivered a 30-round DSFT launch pod prototype designed by DEVCOM AvMC to support the U.S. Army’s Concept Focused Warfighting Experiment (CFWE) event in March.

Within 15 months, GDOTS and the U.S. Government collaborated to establish production capabilities in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Camden, Arkansas, and delivered rocket motor prototypes to DEVCOM AvMC and multiple industry partners. The speed of execution highlights the strength of collaboration between the U.S. Government, GDOTS, and industry partners.

DSFT is an initiative that demonstrates a low-cost artillery rocket that is compatible with current launchers with the ability to be produced in large quantities and increases the capability to mass fires.

 In addition to supporting CFWE, these systems will also be utilized in the upcoming Massed Fires Demonstration event in September.
